Both Serbia and Kosovo applied to be an EU member , having two countries in the EU that don’t recognize each other isn’t going to work

Well, yeah, obviously. Serbia will be vetoed by at least Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania otherwise. Not to mention Montenegro and Albania, who will likely join before Serbia. Serbia can’t hope to join the EU with its current foreign policy on the Balkans, similar to Turkey re: Cyprus or the Greek and Cypriot EEZs.
Also no new members please until unanimity in voting has been removed

Serbia would actually have to start complying with the Brussels Agreement, which was brokered by the EU, and which Serbia already signed. This is unacceptable to Serbia.
Serbia would much rather join the EU without the burden of treaties, agreements, & trying to be a good neighbour.

A friendly reminder there were flags of “good luck to our (russian) brothers” in Belgrade when Russia launched a full scale invasion on ukraine.
Any country can veto a membership and most will have their own issue with Serbia. For one, if you accept Serbia then Kosovo can never join as Serbia will have veto power. And of course Albania will not be able to join as Serbia will demand that Albania recognize Kosovo as part of Serbia before being allowed to join. This is how it will go as Serbia can say no forever.
This is something some nations have figured out. Croatia likely knows this and hence will veto Serbia unless promises are made. Maybe Germany and France are more clueless and will vote yes no matter what. But this won’t matter. Serbia is in this weird position. They love being outside EU as then their leaders can just promise the population they will get back Kosovo without doing anything. Vucic cannot join EU as it would ruin his image with all these concessions.

I honestly doubt the Serbian population even wants further EU integration after their handling of Kosovo-Serbia relations, neo-colonial lithium deals and a quiet support for the government during these mass protests.

Serbia just doesn’t belong in the EU.
Imagine a nation whose president in the 21st century (they had normal leaders until 2012 or so, then decided to devolve into ultranationalists and right wing radicals started winning, what a great idea to bring those guys back!) is known for saying that if there is an international intervention in Bosnia, for every Serb that dies they will kill 100 Muslims in retaliation. Also for claiming most of Croatia is Serbian territory. Great choice guys.

I don’t really know the situation between Kosovo and Serbia but I see it as Ukraine and Donbas regions who decided to separate.
Obviously Serbia will never recognise Kosovo simply because their constitution says it’s their territory.
What is the difference between Kosovo and Donbas or Abkhazia in that case? Simply asking and wondering cuz I don’t know the situation in there
We get it, EU doesn’t want Serbia. to join and never will.

Best solution is genuinely EEA agreement like Norway, Switzerland and Iceland. And then maybe down the line EU accession can be discussed about.
Because there is genuinely no wish from EU to get Serbia in, and Serbia lost all its trust in the EU due to EU officials being very quiet on whats happening with Vucic.
Literally no-one in Serbia would give up Kosovo to join EU (we’ll I guess maybe some 5% would).
And about a million people with Serbian citizenship already live in EU, Switzerland and Norway, so basically people who wanted to go to live there already left, 80+% us who remain are content with having good relationship with EU and that’s about it.
Future of Serbia lies in neutrality and trading with whoever we want to; besides that we should probably aspire to join Schengen and for our diplomas to be fully recognised in EU countries – both of which suits EU as well so it’s probably just a matter of time.
But Serbia’s membership in EU is something neither EU nor Serbia want to, and it’s just funny how some people think they can threat Serbia with it when in reality we don’t care
We will never recognize Kosovo
Aleksandar Vucic is a traitor who allowa independency moves on Kosovo so the EU keeps their mouth shout on the stealing and corruption his party is doing on daily basis here.
Once the regime is gone and right moment comes, we will come back to our southern province wrongfully taken by NATO force.
