Hugarian citizens should finally realize that it’s more profitable for them to ditch Orban sooner than later.

    2. Visible_Bat2176 on

please, hungarians, do it now! it is a pitty to wait :))

Is this part of a classic authoritarian playbook? Antagonize the EU when domestic support begins to wanish and opposition gains ground.

It’s hard for me to tell who Orbán is actually threatening here. A warning to his own supporters to fall in line, or an attempt to provoke the EU for political leverage lol?

Either way, it seems out of pure desperation to consolidate his power.

    4. YakDue6821 on

What’s the catch ? Because saying something like this would be political suicide the next day. Maybe a context or something ?

    5. Frenzystor on

So, like when you don’t get billions shoved in your ass and still don’t follow EU law? We don’t need assholes like you.

    6. torsknod on

Ok, then let’s see how we can stop all payments and get rid of them.
When they have a sane administration again, they can join again.
But until then ensure that it gets easier to get hostile countries out.

What a selfish bastard. Now it’s profitable for many other people than just one shitty Orban.

    8. Wide-Annual-4858 on

The most interesting part of this speech was when Orban told that Trump told him multiple times that Hungary should exit the EU.

    9. Eigenspace on

I guess that means the easy solution to the Hungary problem *is* to just keep fining them, and keep raising the fines.

    10. WorldlinessRadiant77 on

Stop saying we should kick Hungary out.

We should get rid of Orban by any means necessary, we should support the opposition to him and we should absolutely target his finances. But Hungary itself is European to the core.

You nurse a sick patient back to health, you don’t put him down like a dog.

I think this is likely just appealing to his voter base rather than actually being serious. In fairness though, a lot of people in the UK who voted for Brexit are surprised that Hungary hasn’t followed us out.

    12. PhilosophyforOne on

Well, here I was thinking it was going to be difficult to get rid of them. Turns out there was an easy solution to the problem this whole time.

    13. should eu do the same? because its kinda not profiting off hungary…

    14. John-wick-90 on

The funny thing about orban is that he speaks as if he was the leader of a huge country with unlimited resources and healthy population growth but in reality he is the leader of a small landlocked country with a declining population of 9.5 million and one of the lowest birthrates in the world. It will never be profitable for Hubgary to leave the EU, even if he realizes his dream of taking over the ethnic Hungarian regions of Ukraine, those regions are full of elderly people with the same severe demographic issues as Hungary. He needs to come back down to earth

What makes people think that the deals Hungary will get when its on its own rather than belonging to the largest Economic bloc of the world, where still everyone can act free and on its own?

Hungary is too insignificant on its own but will prosper if they finally get rid of their Oligarchs

    16. EquivalentTomorrow31 on

Hungary should be removed. Remove this despot or lose EU funding, it should be that simple. His values are not compatible with the greater Eu

Orbán: “In the exact moment when it will be more profitable for me to be outside the EU than inside of it, we’ll need to quit from it.”

    19. CaptchaSolvingRobot on

Sounds like we could pay Hungary a single lump sum to leave on their own accord.

Probably cheaper than keeping them here.

    20. He means when it is more profitable for himself for Hungary to leave the EU.

    21. PirateFine on

I think they really need an object lesson of what the EU provides, a week of no EU privileges might set them straight.

    22. Can we do it the other way round? Because right now it seems like the EU isn’t benefitting much from Hungary’s membership.

    23. IceWallow97 on

This guy is saying this like the majority of EU wouldn’t have kicked him out if we could’ve lol

He’s really just trying to sew hate between the rest of EU and Hungary.

    24. Masztufa on

as a hungarian i’m fine with this, he and his cronies can leave the eu if they want

      but only them. hungary stays
