    1. Wow! You can see the housing bubble inflating from 2004 onwards, and the crash after 2008.

It’s frustrating that nearly 20 years ago we did 88k units in 2006 And despite advancements in technology last year in 2024 we struggled to do 1/3 of that number. Whatever they did, The people in charge of this country have totally messed up on housing!

It is a choice to not build housing. The less supply the higher the cost of buying and renting. And a fair few TDs have an interest in keeping prices high.

On the water end, they did, just councils didn’t say anything.

For example on the wastewater end many estates had to build their own treatment systems. But many were never maintained and others were just never turned on. They just closed a valve and let the sewage out raw.

I know of one location in the south where a treatment plant was built as part of the development, but it was never turned on. UE are now using this site as the location for a treatment plant for the whole village.

And on the water side my parents house basically had zero water pressure when first built. Nobody had spotted that the estate was higher than the clear water tank at the plant. Eventually a booster station was built, but it took long while.

Also the laws changed. Specifically the EU directives which we(as proven in court) did not comply with for decades.
