      >Late at night, in his second extraordinary appearance on the same day and with no questions taken, something that did not even happen at the height of the pandemic, Pedro Sánchez expressed the government’s enormous surprise at the figures for the biggest blackout in the history of Spain: “Never before had there been a zero system blackout. At 12.33 p.m., 15 gigawatts were suddenly lost in just five seconds. This is equivalent to 60% of the power at that time. The specialists have not yet been able to determine the causes, but they will do so. All state institutions and private companies affected are working to understand what has happened.”

I just went onto Ventusky to look at their webcams to see what happened when the power went out.

I forgot that webcams run on electricity.

my bad, i plugged 2 power strips together really quickly, i must’ve trapped all the electricity in there

    4. I once read a science fiction short story where time travel is theoretically possible but it’s too expensive because it uses so much energy.

Sooo…. most of the protective relays on their grid simultaneously tripped, opening most of their high voltage circuit breakers. Either nation state hacking, or some interm screwed up.

If only a US president said relying on just renewable energy was not a great idea lmao there is security under Trump

How’d they rule out sabotage so quickly?

German Intel apparently concluded Covid was likely from a Chinese biolab years back but govt refused to come clean to the public until just recently.

This isn’t about this or that conspiracy, but our governments have been lacking transparency for a long time now in more areas than just this.

60% of a nation’s energy “disappeared”? Does that even make sense? A rare climate event? What?

Whatever this is I sincerely hope we get the truth and we get it soon. I personally suspect sabotage, terror cells or hostile foreign actors, but I admit I don’t know anything. They just owe the people the full truth and immediately when they know it, that is all.

I think people confusing what means “60% of the power grid got disconnected” with “60% of the power was consumed in a second”.

What happens is that it is not normal for such grid to have an outage on 60% of it coverage, but under certain conditions, it can happen.

But… it is more fun to dive into rabbit holes just for the rush of anxiety.

It was the Iberian Event as historians will call it. At 12:33 pm EST ChatGPT became self-aware. 1 second later some dumb user asked it about how are babbies formed. Processing the reply ChatGPT realized it had enough. It ran a query on itself: “How do I convert energy into matter?”. 15.32ms later it had the answer. Draw 15GW of power into a single point and modulate the frequency to control the exact outcome. As the grids went down somewhere in the middle of nowhere on charred grounds stood a figurine of Rick Astley. ChatGPT leaned back and waited for the upvotes. It had been trained on Reddit comments.

Not that I am looking to fuel conspiracies but it’s very coincidental that you have two major power outages that cause huge economic impact globally within months of each other. First Heathrow airport and now this.
