Writing in *The Guardian,* Hoover Senior Fellow [Timothy Garton Ash](https://www.hoover.org/profiles/timothy-garton-ash) applauds the growing response inside and outside the US to what he calls nationalist, antiliberal forces. From the triumph of Mark Carney’s Liberals in Canada’s federal election on Monday to the alliance of US universities banding together to oppose interference, as well as a South America–EU free trade deal now awaiting ratification, Ash says the forces to save liberalism will have to come from everywhere. “A core insight of liberalism is that, if people are to live together well in conditions of freedom, power needs to be dispersed, cross-examined and controlled,” Ash writes.

Since Donald won’t cool his heals on 51st state rhetoric and threatening everyone who used to be reliable friends and partners, I think it is time for everyone to sell the US treasuries and see what happens. People need to stop playing nice with this want to be King fascist.
