I can’t see any possibility of Ukraine not being screwed over by this…

    2. pigment-punisher on

Anyone got any details? Im cautiously optimistic. Its a better direction that spreading the rhetoric that Ukraine started the war for example

A more meaningful “security guarantee “ than any piece of paper.

“…provide an economic incentive for the US to continue to invest in Ukraine’s defense and its reconstruction …”

    4. SimpleKnowledge4840 on

It’s still extortion and greed, in my opinion. Who goes after a country’s mineral rights, while they are at war?!??

    5. Wookatook on

I feel like Ukraine may have just made a deal with the Devil.
Let’s hope the US throws it all in to support Ukraine now.

I would feel totally icky taking any money from this. It’s like demanding usurious interest from a kid in a cancer ward. Hopefully by the time any revenue comes from this deal the next administration will tear this up. That said, this is maybe the best Ukraine could do under Trump.

    7. No-Expression-2404 on

Fuck the US and their extortion. Like…. If they did the right thing and just stood by Ukraine, don’t they think they would have had access to the minerals anyway? Fucking parasites.

    8. This feels very dirty. I really wish Ukraine wasn’t motivated to snuggle up to scum like this.

At what point will the fat bastard in the white house betray ukraine. I’ve got a feeling it’ll be within 6 months.

Here’s hoping this won’t be an utter disaster for Ukraine. My government is completely untrustworthy right now. That should be obvious to all by now.

I’m fairly certain that this minerals deal will be a good thing, just not in the way that Citric Hitler thinks it will be. Once Muscovy has been kicked out, and then once the Tangerine Moron is gone, any incoming administration with a sense of justice and humanity will revisit the “deal” and level the terms to one that is more equitable. By this point Ukraine will have an industry set up that will continue to benefit it. The question is, what is Putin getting out of this deal? Temporary reprieve? Will the US contribute to helping Ukraine re-establish pre 2012 borders?

      >Ukrainian officials have divulged details of the agreement which they portrayed as equitable and allowing Ukraine to maintain control over its natural resources.

      >The Ukrainian prime minister, Denys Shmyhal, said that the fund would be split 50-50 with between the US and Ukraine and give each side equal voting rights.

      >Ukraine would retain “full control over its mineral resources, infrastructure and natural resources,” he said, and would relate only to new investments, meaning that the deal would not provide for any debt obligations against Ukraine, a key concern for Kyiv. The deal would ensure revenue by establishing contracts on a “take-or-pay” basis, Shmyhal added.

      >Shmyhal on Wednesday described the deal as “truly a good, equal and beneficial international agreement on joint investments in the development and recovery of Ukraine”.

We do not have details, but based on early reporting it seems like a Win/Win.

Hopefully this will lead to more contracts for Patriots plus Atacmsa and heavy lift of other munitions. This may come into fruition before the Phantom Taurus missile arrives

    14. luggagethecat on

The only saving grace is this agreement is for 10 years, I still think this is extortion however the time limit has tempered my criticisms somewhat

    15. DissposableRedShirt6 on

They better be getting a shit ton of Patriot missiles for this “deal”.

    16. FourArmsFiveLegs on

So fat fuck will turn around and sell these rights to Putin for however the fuck much he wants to shove up his ass? That’s if this shit even went down and not coming out well before a deal was made to make Ukraine look bad

Why does this video seem like the opening scene for Doom: Slava Eastern Front

    18. n1ghtm4n on

the pro gamer move is to sign the deal, keep the US sharing intelligence, win the war, and then tell Trump to fuck off. that’s true 4D chess, art of the deal, diplomatic fuckmanship.

    19. attackhamster42 on

As much as I want to be optimistic, this feels too much like a deal with the devil to me. Really hope I’m wrong but this worries me.

(Donald Trump has said will provide an economic incentive for the US to continue to invest in Ukraine’s defense…)

Yes, this was so necessary since we didn’t already have a binding contract to protect them from invasion after they gave up their nukes… /s

    21. bidooffactory on

Ukraine should 100% deny any and all access to the agreement concessions.

      “What concessions bro?”
