Unfortunately this is sooo true
Nothing hidden. Just need to know how to play the game. You want a job at a company, and you know someone there or any C, VP, Director level person ping them and ask them if hiring. If they are hiring ask them for a coffee to catch-up on things and the rest is in your hands. Generally, you do not have to compete against hundreds of applicants in some open job placement.
