So far, this year, 1386 deportation orders have been signed with 647, leaving the state through various means.
Great to see them actually actively enforcing the deportation orders.
Although there are still a lot that need to be deported who are here illegally.

This is obvs a sensitive topic for a lot of people and I in no way mean this to be inflammatory but when it comes to headlines like this why are RTÉ leading with ‘women and children’?
Surely that in itself is inflammatory and erodes due process as I expect was followed in this instance?

>Thirty-nine people, including four women and five children, were deported to Georgia last night on a chartered flight after they did not comply with deportation orders they received.
Breaking news: the law applies to women and children as well. Thanks, RTE, factual and impartial journalism at its best.

Is there a particular reason that people from Georgia would be granted asylum?
I’m assuming it’s to do with the political clamp downs and cosying up to Russia but just don’t know enough about the country.
