Yes, this is standard. You went to an “apotheker van wacht”.

yes this is legal because you’re supposed to get your medications during working hours, apothekers van wacht are only meant to be visited in emergency situations (you got gastro-enteritis during the night and you need to get anti-emetics and pantoprazole). If you have a prescription (your physician prescribed you an antibitioc at friday evening for pneumonia) that is only a few days old you can visit a wachtapotheker (saturday morning) without additional charges

      >Thank you all Enjoy you long sunny week end

You compensate your apotheker van wacht with this because he doesn’t get to enjoy his long sunny weekend, same principle as weekend workers like nurses getting paid more than during week days.

    3. You visited a pharmacy outside of normal opening hours for a non-essential prescription, of course they will charge a fee for that.

    4. If they actually gave you **that** reason, then no. This sounds like a Pharmacist trying to make an extra buck by abusing the law.

If you went to an “Apotheker van Wacht”, then yes. It’s standard, legal, and at least all over Flanders. Heck, I’m surprised it’s this cheap? A couple of years ago I had to get something, if I remember correctly it was 15 euros on top.

    5. They can but it really depends on the pharmacy if they do it. The chains like medimarket all do it by default.
