An odd article which doesn’t address some of the best evidence, which is the degradation of the Russian equipment and manpower evident on the frontlines.
Statistically, Russian equipment has gone from primarily frontline T8x/T9x tank models and degraded steadily through the older and older types until there’s almost nothing left. Tanks are a very rare kill on the daily battlefield stats now. Similarly, IFVs have degraded through the reliable frontline Russian issue to older and older and rarer and rarer.
Many Russian assaults are now carried out using few if any actual armoured vehicles, and instead use modified civilian vehicles such as motorbikes, electric scooters, and heavy trucks for transport. Actual armoured vehicles are saved up for rare, specific concentrated assaults on key objectives, although they still get killed. There simply aren’t enough going around to supply anywhere close to what the Russian military actually needs… after over three years of war, they’re dry.
Similarly the age and health profile of Russian soldiers has plummetted. For the most part they’re old, sick, drunk and untrained.

Don’t hold your breath on this war ending because of that. China and North Korea is supplying a gradually more desperate Russia. I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia starts throwing rocks when they are out of ammo. Russian people seems more afraid of putin than dying in a field in Ukraine. If we want to end this war we need to establish a no fly zone over Ukraine and assist the Ukrainians from the air like we did in Libya. That will end this war and most likely force putin to resign.

That’s no surprise.
After all, Ukraine had more tanks than Russia two years ago.
And since then Russia has been losing 10 tanks for every Ukrainian one. According to reliable OSINT counts, Russia now has about minus 2,000 tanks.

Ukrainian military here can we please stop wet-dreaming about ruzzia running out of anything every other day and focusing on doing stuff that will make it happen? They had allies that were much more willing to give them plenty of stuff without trembling of escalation and now they are in control over the US who can pay the bills for them and provide intelligence about upcoming operations.

no problem, allies like Iran, NK and China will lend a hand.
When russia faced low stock on missiles, Iran helped with long distance drones to continue terrorize civilian population far beyond front lines.
When russia faced lack of ammunition, NK sent millions and millions of shells. On top of thet, they send actual artillery barrels, ballistic missiles and TROOPS. Officially,
Now it’s time for China to step up and make this war continue

” few are willing to sign up as contract soldiers, knowing their chances of survival are slim”
That’s false: the latest estimation is about 40 000 people signing military contracts every month. It’s up from 30 000/m few months ago.
This may allow them to have reserves instead to just send the recruit in meat waves
One of the reason why it’s because russian think peace is nigh, and so they want to take the bonus before the “end.”
I bet they (russian) gonna have a very bad surprise.

If the US/Ukraine mineral proposal actually sticks (which is in no way guaranteed), Russia is toast.
Not holding my breath but this seems like a hugely positive development and puts Russia in a serious bind.
If Trump pulls this off, then I’ll be astonished but grateful. All it takes is for the US to steady its hand and Russia is in deep deep shit.

Some people here need to make up their mind.
Russia can’t be on the ropes and about to collapse while also being an existential threat to Europe that will steamroll us unless we invest hundreds of billions into defense.
My two cents is that Russia is still far from collapsing. Collapse has been predicted to be imminent since late 2022. Any day now. Instead, after consolidating following the failure of their initial invasion, they have been steadily advancing, meter by meter. Their population still supports the war. Their economy, propped up by China and Russian proxies, is still going (and believed to be growing). They outproduce Ukraine and Europe in drones, shells and IFV/MBTs.
Russia is far from done. Joking about them now and underestimating them will not do us any favours. That attitude is what got us into the poor state that European defense is currently in the first place. I’m not holding my breath for a Russian collapse. Europe still has to rearm, reorganise and reinvest. And Ukraine will still have to suffer a lot before things will get better for them.

I remember about two weeks into this latest conflict the commentary from a US analyst on the news.
I paraphrase but on top of completely misjudging their odds (they thought it would be just like Ossetia or Crimea) the biggest issue with this invasion is that there is no exit or off-ramp for Putin other admiting defeat. Which would be political suicide internally.
So either he manages to shape this as a win internally after losing probably more than 300k young russians or someone has to come in and replace him in a musical chairs game.
