Can’t discount it’s a bit of a tantrum against Putin after Putin humiliated him by violating the ceasefire efforts so blatantly despite Trump saying it was a done deal.

Going to be very interesting to see what happens now after they signed the minerals agreement.
Most minerals exists on Russian occupied land. Will trump force them out to get his precious metals? Press X to doubt.

Europe does geopolitics quite slowly, so I don’t expect this is widely understood yet but…
**1 – The US and China are in a conflict** currenly. “Economic Warfare” of some sort. The moves (especially Trump) are erratic and questionable… but nevertheless.
**2 – In the economic domain, the EU is a heavyweight**. GDP similar to those of US & China. Strengths surpassing one or both in certain domains. Where europe stands is a crucial strategic question to both. It even has big “orbiters.” EG UK & Turkey. Way more economic power than military or diplomatic power.
**3. Russia is a 3rd tier economic player**. There’s no comparing the importance of the EU as a Chinese or US trading partner to Russia’s importance as a trading partner
**4. Europe’s interest is Ukraine**, and defending against Russia in general.
If played correctly… this should resolve to a strategy where both the US and China are pressured towards the european position on Ukraine. I don’t expect any bold or highly strategic moves from europe… but some of this could happen by itself.
…If Trump bans Vance from going to or speaking about europe, it’ll be a sign that the US is starting to play the game more strategically.

Please didn’t say this. It makes him look weak and he will lash out just to contradict it. Let him believe it’s his own smart and manly bestest idea is we all gain from it.

Is it because our european nato allies are no longer seen as freeloaders and are taken concrete measures to build up there defenses and attack capabilities. He had brought this up in 2016 that europe needed to increase defense spending and was pretty much ignored by our allies. On his return The butt hurt inital reaction to americas tough love has given way to the sane realisation in europe that they need to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder within the mutual defense pact and no longer two steps behind one member. The feelings of european disappointment at paying a larger portion of gdp will soon be replaced with pride in europes ability to be Able to defend itself and historians will say europe owes thanks to the US for the tough love of this administration. Is this narritive correct.

We simply cannot buy weapons from unreliable countries.
Even the fact that the US did not want to sell the longer-range missiles to Ukraine and that it did not seek to increase the missile production is absolutely unacceptable and is purely by itself a good enough reason to produce our own short/mid-range missiles instead.
