Like those really confident commenters were saying in the thread yesterday, *total* coincidence that he only pulled out of the running when the Ditch started digging, right? Remember that this property is under one of his aliases. Once the Ditch found that out he was fucked.
Some of my favorite quotes:
>Nobody can actually explain how he would benefit from this. I don’t know if they’re all bots or just idiots but unless there’s evidence of corruption or fraud, and by evidence I mean I would even accept just a possible motive, I’m gonna assume the accounts arguing that he’s guilty of something have some kind of hidden political agenda.
>His withdrawal has nothing to do with this article. It’s to do with all the drama around his salary being kept when moving roles. Op is rather naive
>that whole thread with the usual suspect being smug about him doing “nothing illegal”

Here is a perspective that won’t sit well.
Nama returned quite well for the taxpayer, it significantly outperformed it’s brief.
This nomination for a new state agency makes huge sense to facilitate more building and investment, given there is a crisis. Nama was the solution to another crisis, and this is the person that helped that deliver.
The chap in this article is now not taking the role. The sudden shift is potentially because this article, and articles like this – effectively targeting private citizens for doing completely legal things is destroying our capacity to appoint professionals to key roles.
If this lad is managing to get that amount out of a property consistently – fair f*cks to him, he obviously knows what he is doing.
If I had bought a property, and did well enough that rather than sell – I was able to buy and then lease, I’d be fuc*ing proud of myself. I’m AMAZED at folks seeing this differently.

There’s an old B&B listed for similar money near me, middle of nowhere. It spends 95% of the year empty with activity only once or twice a year. They do it because they don’t want to rent it and don’t want to manage tenants full-time. At that price it will only be occupied by groups at peak season but it’s enough to pay for the place without much hassle at all.
If you look around you’ll find a ton of places listed in exactly this manner. It might be unbecoming for a housing “czar” whatever the fuck that is, but it’s not uncommon or illegal. I’d even argue that it doesn’t impact the housing crisis because these places are not going to get rented to a family anyway.

For some reason, I don’t know why, but I’m not confident that someone directly benefitting from the housing crisis would have been the best pick to try solve it….

At what point is enough, enough? €430k a year and was tipped for a job that would pay more than the SECRETARY GENERAL of the DEPARTMENT. Pure, plain greed.

My main question is what kind of tourists would spend €10,000 a week for self catering accommodation in Cabra? It makes absolutely no sense.
It’s no wonder are seeing all these steep falls in tourism if that’s the kind of prices we are expecting people to pay.
I mean, yeah if you want to spend €10k a week on a hotel suite, you’d get some of the very best and most extremely opulently luxurious places in Europe or North America at that kind of weekly rate.
You’d also get some castles etc here
There is something utterly bonkers about the market here in general.
