Ok. Why does Russia want to kill this guy? Too good at raising funds for Ukraine’s Military?

The whole transcript if anyone is interested:

Hello, friends. I hope you’re having a good day. I’m speaking to you under somewhat unusual circumstances – I think by now, many of you have figured out what happened. First of all, I want to check that everything is okay with the sound and video. If it is, then let’s talk for a bit.

Today I want to share what happened yesterday. After finishing a livestream where we discussed Donald Trump and other topics, I had lunch and was about to head out. As I left the house with my bodyguard, I heard gunshots. There was an attempt on my life.

I’ll go into more detail shortly, but first – a call to action: please support the rusoriz project. Donate to fund kamikaze drones for the Ukrainian army. This is the best revenge against russian occupiers – not just for the attempt on my life, but for all their crimes against Ukrainians in this unprovoked, unjust war.

For those of you who have followed me for a while, you know this wasn’t the first attempt. In 2018, there were three attacks. The first, on February 7, happened before I even got out of my car. I was attacked inside the vehicle, but escaped with minor injuries.

The second attack was on May 1 of the same year – exactly seven years ago. I was walking with my partner to a car parked in a neighboring courtyard when I heard shots from behind. I felt a hit to the back of my head – a bullet wound. I didn’t lose consciousness. I turned and saw the attacker with a pistol. I ran at him yelling, “You bastard!” I chased him down for 300 meters, tackled him, and with help from others, we detained him.

The third attack occurred on May 24, 2018. I sustained serious injuries to my left arm, which hasn’t fully healed to this day, and my neck was also hurt. One of the attackers died – I defended myself with a knife. The second fled to russia. Despite the three attacks, police denied me state protection, while the surviving attacker received protection and left the country.

I believe all three attacks were enabled by then-mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, who, together with the local mafia, ordered and coordinated the hits. He has faced no accountability. His mafia also targeted other activists – including Oleh Mykhailyk (who was clinically dead at one point), Mykhailo Kuzakan, Hryhorii Kozma, Vitalii Ustymenko, Svitlana Pidpala, Alina Radchenko, and many more.

Yesterday’s attack marks the fourth attempt on my life. After 2018, I changed my approach to security. It became clear: if you’re a public figure, you need security or at least never to be alone. We implemented new safety measures.

I’ve repeatedly warned that the next assassinations of activists and public figures would come from russian intelligence. They seek to terrorize the home front – killing opinion leaders, volunteers, patriots. As we eliminate their generals on the battlefield, they kill our activists – like Iryna Farion and Demian Hanul.

The events of May 1 follow this same pattern. Thanks to God and the Security Service of Ukraine, I survived. It could’ve ended differently.
