Ho viaggiato in Germania da un anno e ho visto molti re-RB con questi piccoli spazi sopra i sedili, così piccoli che possiamo solo mettere una giacca e nient’altro. Qualcuno sa a cosa servono questi spazi?

You already said it yourself: small luggage and jackets. Mostly jackets, notice how unlike in most other trains there are no hooks along the wall

Supposed to be for luggage but not even a small bag fits, so go figure.

Exclusively made for poster rolls that every scientist carries to conferences. 😉

It’s called a “Hutablage”, which translates somewhat like “place to lay your hat” or just “hat storage”. As the name implies, originally in the olden days you would have stored your hat there. Today most people do not wear hats anymore, however you can use this space to store jackets, small bags, beanies or caps. Or, if you wear one, your hat.

This is the luggage remover. Just place something up there, close your eyes for a millisecond and it’s gone without a trace

    6. Extremely small luggage. A joke when some REs do 3h journeys and are used for travel. I wonder if that’s the case for double decker ICs

these are places for you to forget your luggage and afterwards being even more disappointed in DB because they can’t find your items even if you know exactly the train number, waggon number, characteristics that only your item has, you lost it at the last stop of the day and it’s something no one in their right mind would steal.

      *somewhat personal definition
