AFD è ora etichettato come estremismo di destra. Tweet di GermanforeGoffice che l’estremismo di destra deve essere fermato. Dovremmo aspettarci azioni legali del prossimo futuro o divieto definitivo contro AFD?

We’ll have to see. The parliament will have to put an application to the Supreme Court to open a case. While I am all in line with the findings it is still scary how bad this can go.

How long did it take to ban the NPD?

And they were worse than the AfD right now. (and that was also a reason why the AfD is having such a problem with right wing extremists, they just migrated from the banned NPD)

I thought that social media posts were against the rules.

[And Trump has just signed an extremely dangerous executive order that could lead to martial law.](https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/strengthening-and-unleashing-americas-law-enforcement-to-pursue-criminals-and-protect-innocent-citizens/)

Besides, I thought the current US administration wanted to pull away from Europe and just focus on what’s going on inside their own borders. Why do they care about what happens in Germany?

Rhetorical question, we all know why.

Instead of banning AfD maybe they should find out why people are so fed up with the current establishment : An idiotic energy policy, uncompetitive industry, unsustainable immigration and higher costs of living.

Treat the cause not the symptom.

    6. Comfortable-Dot-5764 on

Yeah, why not just let Germany ban parties the current government doesn’t like, it never went wrong, right?

    7. Well, one in five people who voted in Germany supports AFD. Banning a party that alligns with this much people will backfire horribly. Especially considering most AFD supporters are from the East it will just divide the country further.

I am a bit conflicted on this.

I totally despise Afd for many reasons. Too many to write.

But I respect discontent about many policies in Germany. They aren’t coming from nowhere.

I wouldn’t like these Afd idiots to wield power.

But since we will disallow 22% people or whatever number to vote for them and find right representation, they may resort to other means. Domestic terrorism being one of them.

If they have over 50%, how do you silence the majority?

I think we are fighting fire with fire, while we should ensure fire doesn’t happen in the first place. Fight disinformation. Get the police to fight crime, otherwise people will deal justice themselves. And others

Honestly fuck these liberals. The majority has spoken . Nothing wrong with nationalism and loving your country .

If the NSDAP (Nazi Party) had been banned in or around 1930, the course of European—and world—history could have changed dramatically. But it would have depended heavily on how and why the ban occurred. Here’s a breakdown of likely outcomes, assuming an effective and enforced ban:

      1. Short-Term: Political Instability or Underground Activity
      • The Nazis might have gone underground, similar to how other banned movements operated (e.g., the Communists in Germany or fascists in other countries).
      • Banning a popular radical movement without addressing its underlying support base (economic despair, nationalist resentment, anti-Treaty of Versailles sentiment) could have intensified unrest.
      • Some former Nazis might have merged into other nationalist or right-wing movements—possibly creating a more fragmented but still dangerous far-right bloc.

      2. Mid-Term: Weimar Democracy Might Have Survived Longer
      • Without Hitler’s rise and the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, Weimar Germany might have limped on, especially if moderate or center-right coalitions could stabilize the economy and political order.
      • A more traditional authoritarian regime (e.g., under the military or conservative elites) might have taken over eventually, but it likely wouldn’t have pursued the same genocidal or expansionist policies.

      3. Long-Term: No World War II (at Least Not in the Same Way)
      • No Hitler, no Holocaust: The genocide of six million Jews and millions of others was driven by the Nazi regime’s racial ideology, unique to them.
      • Germany might still have pursued revisionist foreign policies (like reclaiming lost territory), but likely through diplomacy or limited aggression—not global war.
      • Without WWII as we know it, the Soviet Union, the U.S., Britain, and colonial empires would have had very different trajectories.

      Important Caveat:
      • Banning the party alone wouldn’t have solved the crisis. The Nazi rise was powered by widespread social anger, humiliation from WWI, and fear of communism. Without real reform—economic relief, political unity, and restoring national dignity—other authoritarian or fascist movements could have filled the vacuum.

Germany is such a joke. First they let Harry Kane and Bayern Munchen limp into a title and now this.

The opposing political party is not extremist, no matter who you support. They are a different point of view.

This goes for the entire world.

If they were so extreme you wouldn’t need stunts like this and you wouldn’t have to worry about them. The voters would easily not let them have power.

USA spies on the american communist party members, and harasses them during immigration proceedings – as being presumed unAmerican ?

Whats the issue? Germany is doing nothing that USA is doing.

    13. MadMax2910 on

It is possible. A ban carries a certain amount of legal and political risk, which I’m not sure our new government is willing to take.

    14. KingOpinionBot on

It’s absolutely not democracy by definition. The level of delusion by the establishment authoritarians is terrifying and I highly recommend sane Germans prepare themselves for violent revolt. Same with the Irish, Scottish, and British.

Rubio is Cuban, and Afd Would never see him as an American or German

This is like the Iranians and Turks who lately have been supporting the AFD a lot

    17. FlashyHeight9323 on

I wonder how American democrats see this. To me, this is authoritarian. But it’s to combat extremism. Feels incredibly tricky to get right and easily depicted as wrong even when right.

Just for clarity’s sake, does independent mean outside of the democratic process?

The German group that banned opposition parties…it wasn’t the good guys.
