He should accept the truce offer and simply continue military operations – just like Putin has done so many times before.
So called “72-hour truce” or how some call it a “BBQ truce” is just an advertisement for Putin to Trump, so he could make himself look like he wants peace (in fact he is not). Ukraine suggested to Russia a 30-day peace deal, but Russia rejected it. Ukraine needs long-term peace with guarantees, not another “BBQ truce” that even does not work.
Awaiting Trumps furious 200 word all caps tweet towards Zelensky when Putin only gets 20 word tweets and addressed as Vladimir.
It would be possible: if Putin ordered his horde to withraw to the 2014 borders, gave back every inch of Ukraine and never attacked that country again. Somehow I doubt that is his plan.
Xi Jinping is heading for Moscow.
An attack on Moscow now would be a PR disaster.

Putin will just use it as an opportunity to bring up more cannon fodder and supplies to the front lines.
Not going to happen, trump convinced europe to arm itself to its teeth, and now with the mineral deal signed, us military aid is being paid for in full, while russia is literally sitting on the US gold mine.. he knows what biden sent is going to be firecrackers compared to what trump is going to send now, the gloves are off, and his allies have major problems because of tariffs, he is going to find out

Fly drones near all three Moscow airports, Russia needs to shutdown air traffic and can’t bring in guests. What an embarrassment that will be. Doesn’t even need to attack, or have explosives.
Kyiv has rejected Vladimir Putin’s offer of a 72-hour truce in honour of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, Ukrainian news agency Interfax [reported](https://en.interfax.com.ua/news/general/1068874.html) on Saturday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky poured scorn on the idea of a three-day truce from 8 May to 10 May, insisting on a 30-day ceasefire instead, Interfax-Ukraine continued, “because it’s impossible to reach any agreements in three, five, or even seven days,” quoting Zelensky.
Zelensky also [said](https://en.interfax.com.ua/news/general/1068879.html) that Ukraine could not guarantee the safety of world leaders attending the parade in the Russian capital on 9 May, saying Moscow was capable of “staging incidents involving foreign guests” and then attempting to shift the blame to Ukraine.
Putin [declared](https://novayagazeta.eu/articles/2025/04/28/russia-announces-72-hour-truce-for-80th-anniversary-of-victory-in-wwii-en-news) the 72-hour truce on Monday. “Based on humanitarian considerations … all hostilities will stop during the period,” the Kremlin said. The statement also stressed that if the Ukrainian side violated the truce, Russian forces would “give an adequate and effective response”. It reiterated Russia’s willingness to engage in peace talks to settle what it referred to as the “Ukrainian crisis” and said it expected Ukraine to declare a truce of its own.
