      That’s absolutely extortionate.

I was at an Applegreen recently and a chicken fillet roll starts at €6.99. STARTS!!!

Who knows how much you’ll end up paying for it when you all your salad and sauce. I love chicken fillet rolls but they aren’t worth more than €3.50 to be fair. I’d maybe spend a fiver if it came with taytos and a drink.

    2. Ambitious_Use_3508 on

That is crazy. Probably some manky cold chicken as well

good job its a free country and dont have to buy it!

buy all the ingredients yourself, factor in time to make and clean up, electricity bla bla!

      13.50s priceybut still…..whinge whinge whinge

Up voting ONLY because the picture is of the display, and not a receipt after purchase, giving out about gouging.

WTF for a sandwich… Do you get a whole chicken with that

That’s pretty bad. The bread doesn’t look particularly expensive either

That’s nuts. People need to just stop buying things like that — complete and utter rip off and at a pricing level that’s not even sustainable. If we’re expected to pay €13.50 for a sandwich there comes a point when people just stop doing things like dining out — it goes back to being an unaffordable luxury like it was in the 80s.

There’s a sweet spot where the economy works and people spend money and there’s a volume of trade. It feels like with stuff like this that point is beginning to tip. Normal things are starting to feel out of reach.

And not even freshly made, god knows how long it’s been sitting there, no thanks.

    9. Psychology_Repulsive on

Somebody must be paying for it but that’s ridiculous.

Always hope these places crash and burn and the owners ends up bankrupt. Cunts.

I was expecting some yolk in the middle of Dublin not the backarse of Galway.

      That is fucking outrageous.

Local petrol station is selling basic shite sandwiches for €6.50-€8.00. I only noticed because I saw they had the yellow sticker reduced to clear and went to buy one and the reduced price was nearly a fiver!! Needless to say I didn’t buy anything! Shocking altogether!

It’s clearly not a chicken filet roll

      It’s a chicken *baguette*

I know I’m a dinosaur now, but a ham salad roll and a can of coke used to be ÂŁ1punt in Londis when I went to secondary school in 90s

    18. Successful_Cod_8904 on

This was priced by an accountant who had to take in account, the Range Rover to go to Musgraves, The weekly dinner + hotel with that young waitress who only stands looking at her phone. The triple layered toilet paper and air sticks. Etc. Running a business is expensive. The fool who buys white bread as a sustance deserved to be ripped off. Here is your Eur 7.30 Capu cchinooo.

    19. RaccoonVeganBitch on

You know what, if you go to Lidl and buy all the ingredients, you can make a pretty tasty sandwich and save some money – prices have gotten out of hand lately

    20. AwkwardBet7634 on

Most of them type baguettes are day old and bland aswell. Absolute fucking chances.

    21. Mother-Priority1519 on

Let’s face it the only good thing about a chicken fillet roll is it’s 5 euro – these cxnts can gtf.

    22. HonestProgrammerIRE on

In Vincent’s A&E yesterday with a friend, €4.50 for a small bottle of coke out of the vending machine. Had no choice as the nurse said he needed a bit of sugar as we waited. Madness.

    23. Visible-Objective-77 on

The only way to combat this is to stop buying. I doubt that the cost price of this sad sandwich exceeds €3, including staff costs. I stopped buying Coke 500ml bottles when they went above £1.50, likewise, multipack chocolate bars when they went over that. If enough people set a line in the sand and stopped or reduced buying a product when it went over it, the drop in sales would be noticed. Once one company is perceived to have gotten away with a price hike the rest follow eagerly.

    24. That’s really bad. Tourist pricing?

On a related note, I notice lately some take-aways are charging… “main course in a nice restaurant” money for pretty bad food, and that’s before delivery & admin fees and whatever else if ordering online.
