Ridiculous. Just deport them and be done with it

As with all entitled wankers when challenged to explain themselves they either can’t or won’t acknowledge their own selfishness, we’ve got plenty enough of them at home but its a shame we’re importing them also.

Not part of the “keep them out club”, but surely a criminal conviction for theft is grounds for suspension of Visas and deportation.

And unusually, as the article points out, Ikea were more than happy to input into the process of making amends. Sounds like Ikea don’t want any negative press considering the background of the shoplifters.
There’s nothing racist about deporting guests in the country, if they break the law. I’d expect the same if I did it abroad, and this wasn’t a case of one off tom foolery.

Send him Home (which is not Ireland, just in case you think that)…
This post will be removed soon I suspect because of people like him we can’t talk freely anymore. But you can get a Irish passport without any real connection to Ireland or Irish people.

I wonder if they were under they had taken any drugs/alcohol that affected their judgement.
Seems insane for people with good jobs and a good life in Ireland to jeopardize it by stealing stuff they could afford.

My question is why? I thought software devs made a decent salary, unless they earn less as part of an agreement with their employer to sponsor their visa but I don’t know if that’s really common here

Don’t software engineers make decent wages? I can’t imagine desperation being the reason for these thefts. “Foolishness” wouldn’t be the word I’d use to describe this behaviour.

You could make an argument against deportation if it’s a minor crime, but 3,500 euro is not minor. As long as there is no immediate danger to them then the process for deportation should begin.

Imagine stealing on a Software Engineers salary. Deport. There’s no shortage of domestic developers for those jobs.

Surely they’ll have their visas revoked? I can’t imagine citizenship would be handed out to someone with a criminal record.

Should be zero tolerance. Open that visa to a better candidate

Why is the word ‘ambitious’ being used? Trying to soften the crime?
Deport them, its even worse as they had the money to pay.

India has store security who check that you paid for the stuff you are carrying out of any store, similar to Walmart in the US. My guess is these idiots chanced their arm and got away with it. Since they got away once they probably thought they could keep at it.

It’s an open secret that the desire for Indian MBA migrants to obtain Irish citizenship is because an Irish passport allows them to go anywhere they want. They use Ireland as a stepping stone. If Indian graduate Visa applicants were set aside as ineligible for citizenship status, this problem would fix itself overnight.
