Germany’s Foreign Office has defended a decision to classify the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party as right-wing extremist, after sharp criticism from the White House.
US Vice-President JD Vance accused “bureaucrats” of rebuilding the Berlin Wall, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio slammed the designation as “tyranny in disguise”.
In an unusual move, the foreign office directly replied to Rubio on X, writing: “We have learnt from our history that right-wing extremism needs to be stopped.”
The intelligence agency that made the classification found AfD’s “prevailing understanding of people based on ethnicity and descent” goes against Germany’s “free democratic order”.
It’s insane that the US is interfering to this level in internal German affairs. Especially considering that extremist classifications have been a thing forever in democratic Germany – that’s how the KPD got banned for Christ’s sake.
Things are looking so grim right now
There is a lot of actual tyranny happing in the states right now. Germany should call that out.
Let hear US regime comment of Russia outright killing opposition politicians. Oh, no comment? Funny that.

The USA is not an ally
The titles on all of these should be “Rubio defends fellow extremists”
The Americans need to be told in no uncertain terms where they go fuck off. EU needs to legislate to minimise American interference in our politics. They are not our friend.
I’d think that just saying, “It’s Marco Rubio’s opinion” is a perfectly valid way to address this.

Who cares what Rubio has to say? He should take care of his own hellhole he calls home.
In a way, I want the US administration to get more involved. Tell all Germans that Donald Trump personally supports the AfD, that will diminish their numbers within no time.
