President Donald Trump says he may consider using military force to take Greenland, insisting the resource-rich island is needed for national security purposes.

“I don’t rule it out,” he told NBC News’ Kristen Welker in an interview that aired today. “I don’t say I’m going to do it, but I don’t rule out anything.”
“We need Greenland very badly,” he continued. “Greenland is a very small amount of people, which we’ll take care of, and we’ll cherish them, and all of that. But we need that for international security.”

    2. Translation:

My approval rating is in freefall because I am losing my trade war.

I keep losing cases in court.

My first hundred days were perhaps the worst on record.

      *So let’s change the subject.*

The US already has a base in Greenland. It used to have more troops there. There is no need to invade the place when you’re already there.

    3. Longjumping_Ad_7484 on

He wants Greenland so that England doesn’t have a jumping-off point to protect Canada from invasion.

    4. garageindego on

This is why he is telling Ukraine to give it up to Russia and hand over land as Trumps got plans of invasions of his own.

    5. Tauri_030 on

Who would win in a fight, 100k Trumps or the entire population of Greenland?

    6. BoxCarMike on

Sounds like it’s about time Greenland expelled US troops until the orange shit stain can rule out using military force.

    7. Aethernath on

As a European, we’ll fight you if you try to invade out territory.

    8. Active-Beautiful5987 on

So when Russia invaded a Sovereign Nation that was bad, but if the US invades a sovereign nation , THAT is okay!

It is bad when any one does this!!!!!!

      Elbows up!

    9. Hyperlinux on

He loves to be a bully. To him Greenland is just a bigger lunch money prize.

    10. At this point, shame on all EU countries that host US military forces and bases on their soil.

    11. It’s becoming impossible to produce a lampooning caricature of this man which isnt actually an acceptable and accurate portrayal of fact.

Attacking another NATO member isn’t usually a good idea. It’s literally a declaration of war and demands a military response from other NATO members against the attacker.

    13. So when article 5 is triggered and the rest of NATO stands against the US, China and Russia laugh, and gain.

    14. PeterDaPinapple on

I am an American, and I do not want to downplay the asinine rhetoric this man spouts out, but I truly believe in all my fucking heart the military leaders would not listen to a command to attack a NATO ally. Maybe my faith in the system is unwarranted, but I truly believe this guy is just stupid and the military leaders have that same opinion.

In my 46 years on this planet, I never would’ve guessed I would live through this current timeline we are on with this Trump idiot.

I hope & pray our military, or at least the majority will consider this an Illegal order & refuse.. Not sure how that works, they may not either but I really hope it does

I wonder how the “TaKe HiM SeRiOuSLy NoT LiTeRaLLy” people feel about this now

    18. creatymous on

Well, I guess the world wouldn’t rule out to take him by his hand to an international court, an jail him like the rest of his Nazi loving crew.

    19. Independent-Pain-267 on

American …… we dont support him or his plans to violate our Consitution and international law

    20. Denmark could already invoke NATO Article 4. Joke has gone too far

    21. GreatAndEminentSage on

How fitting as we are celebrating rememberence day here in Denmark.

Moron. Someone should tell him to shut up and sit the fuck down.

    22. VastUnderstanding326 on

This guy is such a conman, no peace in Ukraine, no Panama, no Greenland, he’s phasing out all the campaign hype to just keep the system pretty much as is/was

    23. Computerist1969 on

Does the USA still operate the Guantanamo Bay cherishing camp? Perhaps the Greenlanders could go there?

The most powerful ‘ally’ in NATO ladies and gentlemen.

Trump also does not rule the use of a tactical blancmange if asked because he doesn’t remember what it is.

    26. SweetAlyssumm on

I have been saying that the US will take Greenland. It’s just the sort of notch on his belt Trump values. And not much of a challenge. The sabre rattling is to scare people but also to let them know he told them up front. They could have prepared. It’s all useful for him. Trump often tells the truth about egregious things (like running for a third term). He somehow uses it to normalize the bizarre things he does.

Europe could have prepared to fight back (I’m afraid the 50K people in Greenland won’t be a match for the US military) but I doubt Europe will bestir itself to defend Greenland.

So, Greenlanders, you can look forward to being “cherished” <shudder>.

    27. OkFisherman6356 on

Trump wants to “cherish” Greenland. He is SO CREEPY.

    28. UltraCynar on

Screw the Americans who voted for this man, and screw the ones who didn’t that allowed him to run in the first place. They literally have laws to prevent an insurrectionist to run and they allowed this to happen. The whole US political system needs a big reset.

    29. Best_Evidence1560 on

Nobody in the world should be supporting that country. There has to be repercussions for threatening allies

    30. Jonas1412jensen on

And of all days, on the day we celebrate our liberation from Nazi occupation.

    31. Trump and the US will buckle when it costs them money. It’s too easy.
