Says it all about the over inflated sense of worth of the staff in RTE

*Correspondence between the national broadcaster and the Department of Media shows the Government asked for a lower payout — with 400 staff at Donnybrook and nationwide set to leave over the coming years — but this was met with pushback by RTÉ.*

Let them go on Strike and not bother coming back.

Go on strike lol. Literally no one would care, Virgin serves the same public service broadcasting purpose.

      >if they were offered redundancy deals similar to HSE

Speaking as someone who lives in the country and pays taxes which go to both organisations, I say with utter confidence that the HSE is far more deserving and useful than RTÉ could ever hope to be. The arrogance of RTÉ staff to think they’re somehow “above” the redundancy deals offered to HSE staff is truly staggering.

Does any politician anymore have “balls”? Like is it an irrefutable law of science that the second a politician goes into Gov they become impotent and cower in the face of confronting the public sector? Can these people look in the mirror and face the sniveling spineless coward that stares back out at them that rather than confront the absolute appalling waste of taxpayers money that happens everyday with this bunch of unaccountable underworked over paid jumped up public sector and the insidious treacherous unions that run the shake down racket the pols just wimper back into their litter tray….stand up to these pricks , let them strike, honestly who would really notice or care , this is a no brainier win for Gov pols if stand up and reclaim some of the taxpayer waste in this cesspit and let this Rte shower whine about cutting their costs for all we care ….

      > However, in a letter to the department last November, Mr Lynch railed against a cut to redundancies.“A significant change to the terms of the scheme to one which would result in a much lower payout will be a significant disincentive to staff to apply and will give rise to industrial unrest in circumstances where there has been little change across three schemes over 10 years,” he wrote.

Oh noo they will stop working …

They want a better redundancy scheme than the people saving lives? The sense of entitlement dripping out of RTE is staggering!

Here’s your 2 weeks statutory. Goodbye. Is what most of would hear if we’re lucky.

Better not tangle with RTE over redundancy. Few people in the country have more experience when it comes to being overpaid to not do their job.
