I don’t really get why butter is increasing so dramatically — of any product that’s one where Ireland has absolutely enormous domestic supplies.

What’s driving that? Those increases aren’t small.

Gouging and blaming it on any number of world events.

Global beef prices have risen due to lack of supply.

Cattle at mart in Ireland in 2019 were €3.30/kg now they are €8/kg.

Chicken price has also risen dramatically due to avian flu in Europe and lack of supply.

It’s not price gouging or profiteering, producers and retailers have to pass on these price increases.

No retailer or producer likes increasing prices, it’s far too competitive of an industry.

The dairy companies are making more money than property developers, based on their financial reporting. Could have something to do with it.

    5. If you want to check out how it fluctuated in your local supermarket have a look at http://www.quidu.ie

It shows price tracking history for the last 12 months on specific products

They have shrunk Kerrygold tubs to 400g and it’s now 5.49 in my local Tesco

I’ve stopped buying it. Unfortunately, quality olive oil is up too.

Minimum wage rise twice .. once in 24 and again in 25 ( with that so did the contribution to PRSI and other taxes ) , energy in general ( power gas kerosene… ) did also .. insurance costs went through the roof in various sectors of economy ( explain me this one ) and different county’s decided over night to rise commercial rates ( also unexplained.. but by the social welfare pressure ) .
So yea .. what a surprise that everything is more expensive and it will be even more expensive.
Meanwhile small and medium businesses that shut down are at a record high because they are taxed into oblivion and face cost of operations beyond what the consumer can afford.
      Everything is just peachy
