I don’t know that I’d say worse, especially with the local link (not shown generally) roll out and Connecting Ireland improvements recently. Expressway has declined but that’s one service. The growth of the motorways has obviously affected the buses a lot, but that’s a slightly complicated point.

Have you got a comparison one from now to show the ‘worse’
It’s way better now, even my tiny village in wicklow now has two bus options. But generally the bus services have followed the population shifts, from towns spread out across the country to cities.
Often those that lament the loss of a service are the ones complaining of waste of money with empty buses driving around .

Express way 51 and 64 still run the same route.

Let’s not pretend that this was anything special. When you got on your hour-late bus, it would take hours and hours going around every tiny village in the country and stopping for the driver to smoke fags and eat sandwiches. I was a student at that time and getting the bus was an absolutely miserable experience.
