    1. Posting it in my WhatsApp status, also, wouldn’t it be “shines”? Not trying to be pedantic, just it doesn’t sound fully there…

Looks nice. But I think it has to be “Europe shines” not “shine”.

Needs two hands to symbolise strength and hard work, with one on each end and with both trying to pull it open.

Well, it certainly captures the darkness in our core. That way Frontex, surveillance, lobbyist influence and the rising far-right are included as well. As much as I would like us to be the shinig beacon in the darkness. ;P

Could also be used to raise awareness about light pollution.

A few months ago on r/askeurope a Czech guy suggested that Europe should be symbolized by a raven. A very smart bird, potentially the smartest, but holds grudges and never forgets. I think that would be a brilliant symbol for Europe, both for its positive and negative aspects.

In 2025, propaganda isn’t a relic of wartime, it’s a daily feature of modern life, shaped by intelligence agencies, tech companies, foreign governments and media outlets that no longer bother to hide their loyalties. From Washington to Beijing, and Silicon Valley to Tel Aviv, the same playbook is being run: control the narrative, flood the zone and keep the public distracted, divided and compliant.

why is everyone saying it should be “shines”?

Do you refer to 6000 Russian nukes and radiation.

We should normalize our relationship to Russia, before we are drawn into a war. That’s in the interest of the Ukrainian population too.

Even the dimmest light shines in the dark. Europe shines even under sun might be better.

      Night or day, Europe shines

      Sun envies Europe, etc.

HOWEVER, considering European governments’ support to Israel, even during genocide, no, Europe isn’t shining. Europe is a continent that forgot the values making Europe Europe. This is sad, even sadder than Trump.

I think propaganda is meant to be overly biased or misleading. This is just a nice poster!

Does Russia also shine? Europe ≠ EU

Also, I’m pretty sure if an American made something similar for the US, it would end up on r/shitamericanssay as rightfully or wrongfully, their nationalistic tendancies are heavily critised by Europeans.

Regardless of how you perceive either side, that means there’s a bit of a double standard when things like this are produced; it partially justifies their stereotype that the EU and its citizens are elitist.
