Is the dollar that low these days? Because eggs are 50 cents or 6 francs for a dozen.

tbh I prefer to pay a higher price for the knowledge that our chicken are not completely miserable. heck, you can see them flauntering around, having sun and rain shelter while just being outside

    3. I don’t understand the whole thing, what is so special about the eggs

Something feels not right – the Migros price for 10 eggs is 5.30CHF (Swiss eggs M), that’s 0.53CHF for one, that makes it 6.36CHF for a “dozen”…

    5. Would be more interesting to compare to average income. Absolute prices are pretty meaningless.

As others have pointed out, animal welfare is also a huge factor.

I only buy eggs if the chickens are treated well. So I buy organic ones that have that symbol about chicken wellness or something. Double the price of the usual ones but worth it.

I live in a village, I rarely pay for eggs.

Both my neighbors have chickens and I constantly get more eggs from them than I can eat so even my dog gets a hard boiled egg every second day.

(Obviously they get other things from me in return all the time as well.)

Just checked on the migros page. You can buy 12 eggs for $5.30, and those are still swiss free range eggs. Migros is probably not even the cheapest seller.

    9. Buying quality prix from coop so it seems a bit cheaper than this chart. Looks they chose bio eggs for Switzerland.

    10. You can get 15 prix Garantie eggs for 4.25 so take this data with a pinch of salt (or aromat)

One of the things that I really like here is the quality of the eggs.

Yes, it’s pricey, but when I buy directly at the farm, they’re absolutely delicious.

      It’s the same for milk.
