The European Commission has launched a new initiative to attract researchers and scientists to the EU—especially those from the United States.

The Choose Europe for Science program, backed with more than half a billion dollars, is designed to offer an alternative to researchers who have been forced to seek new opportunities following cuts in scientific funding imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration.

In 1945, America recruited Nazi scientists from Europe.

In 2025, Europe is rescuing American scientists from Nazis.

      History is weird.

      Smart move.

In 1945, while the Americans were recruting scientists from N@zi Germany, the USSR was moving factories from Germany and Eastern Europe to the USSR. After they rebuilt them, they didn’t know what to do with them

Will probably be a bunch of social scientists. That money should be used to keep our own reseachers, especially STEM, in Europe.

And with Trump trying to shut down all the colleges and universities, we won’t be educating new ones to take their places. Europe wins, America LOSES. Congress better wake the fuck up.

Save some for us Canada people plz 😳

Matter of fact! let’s collab and get all the science.

Whatever the case…. It can’t be the USA that get to AGI first while Trump is in. We will never hear the end of it.

      Last note edit:

Can get make up something a little more bad-ass then the Collation of the Willing?

For reference, NSF funding alone in the US was $9 billion in 2024. Europe will not be attracting many scientists with this budget.

Are there enough jobs for both the American and native scientists?

    10. There is no need to “lure”. Just funding the research on a level comparable to the US or China is enough.
