They’re optimistic on American travel, which is nearly all of their valuable long-haul revenue, but weren’t too loud about saying the data was only good up to the end of March. They also seemed to say that US travel hasn’t dropped, but they didn’t go so far to say that Irish residents are going to America as much as before. I don’t expect Q2 and especially Q3 results to be just as kind, as my educated guess is that Americans will still come to Ireland more than the Irish will go there if they have the money to come.

As for the UK and Europe, I gave them a fair shot over RyanAir to smaller UK airports and the other European flag carriers everywhere else. Both do better than Aer Lingus on most fronts and I’ve dropped them altogether. A nicer Terminal 2 isn’t going to cut it if I’m paying legacy carrier prices for RyanAir service and a terrible frequent flyer programme.

    3. Just flew on their brand new A321 XLR long haul from indianapolis to dublin. Have to say the seats are fantastic, plane was completely full with American tourists and this is only a brand new route. A lot of them connecting onwards to Europe.
