Hillbillies is 1000% better than this.

Any chicken fillet from a centra is 200% better than this.

And it’s the best fried chicken burger you can get at a chain in the USA.

      This will not end well.

    2. Irish people have a sick addiction to American fast food so I’m sure this chain will be a roaring success here. The Dominos pizza in Tallaght is the most successful branch in the world. The first Krispy Kreme in Blanchardstown had to change its 24 hour opening time after one week because it was *too* popular.

Hopefully they won’t last. I’d rather support Irish business with my cash. They are also under the same parent company as Burger King who have been giving out free meals and drinks to IDF soldiers in Israel.

Starbucks and Tacobell are leaving Australia after huge investment as the competitors are better.

If these companies want to break ground they need to move to the East or Africa. Less competition and the “glamour” of an American brand.

Woo more fast food joints in the city centre. Exactly what’s needed to revive O’Connell/Westmoreland Street

Very fitting for the week that’s in it. Though Pope Yes is a weird name for a fried chicken joint.

Moved to New Orleans for a few years, and eaten my share of Popeyes. I’m really glad to see the great people of Dublin potentially getting one. This is legitimately great fried chicken. I just hope they bring the full menu over with all sauces, sides and the option for spicy chicken 👌

Pat is a wanker but Supermacs fried chicken is the GOAT if you get it fresh out of the fryer. Lunch Box with a breast a wing and a thigh, tub of garlic sauce and a strawberry milkshake is 10/10.

I lived in NY, Chicago & Vancouver. If they sold Supermacs Chicken Breast Sandwiches in North America you’d see queues around the block.

Chick-Fil-A, KFC & Popeyes is not that good. Its ridiculously overhyped because most of the fast food in the US is absolutely terrible. It’s all caged chicken full of steroids.

You’ll regularly get meals in US fast food chains that are bordering on inedible.

I was in NY back in March and everybody was going nuts for Raising Canes, (Its a new chicken spot). “You gotta try the sauce!” . I queued for about 40mins and the tenders were 5/10 and the special sauce was ketchup & mayo & garlic powder.

Irish meat is so much better.

      They’re already hiring.

Edit: Downvoted for stating facts, oh Reddit 😅

Had popeyes in maid for the first time. Undercooked rotten chicken. Never again.

Technically speaking they’re owned by a Canadian company, Restaurant Brands International (RBI) that is in turn owned by a Brazilian investment fund, 3G capital, even though the brand originated in the U.S. Deep South in the 1970s.

Same company that owns Burger King and Tim Hortons.

So Westmoreland Street is going to become the Fried Chicken District, with neighbouring KFC and Supermac’s. All we just need now is a Hillbilly’s next, to gain access to their gravy.

    12. I lived in the US about 15 years ago.

Among the things I miss. (The Ford Mustang I owned, proper barbecue, giant Wal-Marts and Targets that have everything) Popeye’s is on the list. The chicken is good, the sides are unreal. Red beans and rice, collard greens, god I hope they do the biscuits. Spicy chicken, 10 piece box, dark meat only, a large collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and about 8 biscuits. Wake me up when the diabetic coma ends.

Shame I have to venture into Dublin (the wicked city) for it.

Honestly I’d be so here for it. Popeyes tenders and biscuits are god tier

Tried it in Brazil and it’s one of my favourites of all time.

Popeyes in the UK has an oily feel that’s hard to explain. Not great for those with sensitive insides. The sauces are average.

This is exactly what Westmoreland St. needs. It’d be great if you could get parking outside. Should be made a condition of granting permission Unfortunately, not enough joined up thinking in ABP!!!!

Brand name will carry it but I think Hillbillys is superior in Cork and Supermacs is everywhere else in the country besides Heuston Starion

    18. Dr-Jellybaby on

Ooo Popeye’s is yum. Back when I ate meat I tried it in the States, tasted like it was the most unhealthy thing you’ve ever eaten but by God was it delicious. Bonus points for not being homophobic like that…other American fried chicken chain.

    19. Ok_Perception3180 on

If you’re after fried chicken and are willing to accept unhealthy fast food – Popeyes does it better than anyone.

KFC needs to pack up and leave.

Added bonus that Irish chicken is “healthier” than the US chlorine washed chicken.

Lovely. Just what the country needs. Another shitty franchise from over that part of the world.

    21. Console-Culture on

Great, just what the city centre needs, more shite over priced american fast food.
