Why can’t we prison or penalise people who put vital public infrastructure at risk? I kinda need water.

This is just ridiculous. Private companies can’t run public services. It is inefficient. Just how as it is inefficient for the state to run private companies such as owning restaurants and supermarkets as we saw under Communism.

There should be *no* government rescue for Thames Water when the company goes tits up. None of this privatise the profits and socialise the losses nonsense. Let them go to the wall, *then* step in and nationalise it.

They would be with the bonuses of the top executives and giving dividends to shareholders when you are cash strapped

With how many laws this lot have broken, it seems pretty clear to me that we should just kill them off and nationalise them for free. They don’t deserve a penny.

It oughtn’t “scare off investors” as all they have to do is abide by well-established laws like “don’t pump astronomical amounts of shit and cocaine into Britain’s waterways”.

Water is a public good and must be socially owned. Nobody else in the world has the terrible privatised system we do (though Pinochet-era Chile also gave it a good go).

Sorry, we can’t sell the water supply to an American company. That sounds like an utterly stupid plan. Renationalise it before this happens.

Sounds like a problem for their creditors when it’s assets are nationalised for £1 under emergency legislation

Market economy and privatisation does not work with water.

There is only one waterline, so there is no possibility of alternatives to choose from. No competition. And you cannot opt out either.

I am all in for market economy, but you have to know the limits of the systems you are promoting. Natural monopolies should be state owned. You have to pay attention, that they do not become union & partisan corruption cesspools, but privatizing does not help. Privatization makes a vulture attack inevitable.

If they could send someone round to fix either of the two leaks I pass each morning which have been gushing clean water non-stop for the last 2 weeks, it might save them a few quid. Tried to call them about it but I was in the queue for 20 minutes and gave up.

      Man, this boils my piss.

Which is something we may all need to consider in the future, unless the preference is drinking it in its natural form.

Arrest these millionair bosses, they are literally killing people and our environment.

We will just keep this on a continuous cycle to be used as an example for teaching economics of the advantages of privatisation of national industries. Pretty much like the well proven trickle down economic theory established around the same time.

How can they give a bonus on a 3 billion, government bail out? That should be illegal but it happened in 2008, with the bank bail outs.
