Yeah well figure out how to make the shitshow that is the Bundeswehr an attractive career option, or figure out a modern draft system that seems fair
As long as everyone is drafted equally…
I got no problem with a return of the draft. I was a conscientious objector and did civil service (Zivildienst) and I am sure this option will remain open to anyone who doesn’t want to serve in the military.
In hindsight I regret that I didn’t do my time in the Bundeswehr, but back then the day Europe seemed like a very safe place and the only big war that was going on was the US war on terror, and I didn’t want to have anything to do with that.
I wouldn’t exclude women, though. They are more than capable to do their part, imho.
Speaking of reintroducing draft is worrysome because it shows the slipping of Europe into a violent past
So glad I got out of that one.
Born just late enough to not have to do military service, born just early enough that I have a job in critical infrastructure and won’t be drafted if it comes to it.
Or maybe, just maybe, make a military career attractive enough not to rely on slave labour?
Oh wait, it’s not going to happen, throwing men into military barracks and ignoring their rights is way easier!
Just start with people from r/europe . They are all very zealous to serve!
They would need to teach German to a lot of young people. But maybe that’s worth it
“Either you join voluntarily or I’m gonna force you” is no real choice.
About time. Stop warning and begin acting in a manner that gets us to a stronger European defense.
