Obviously, Russia and really the truth is Putin is straight up trolling and giving the middle finger once again to Trump and Zelenskyy, on the world stage, with how he was the one who asked for this to begin with, messing up Zelenskyy+Macron+Kier Starmer+Merz+polish prime ministers Plan for a 30 day ceasefire accepted by Monday or immediate new sanctions+more weapons for Ukraine . and now that he has delayed that, Putin instead is sending a low level nobody Russian delegation that doesn’t even have the authority to make major decisions themselves. Trump completely ruined Zelenskyy and the Europeans plan this past weekend to squeeze the Russians by immediately jumping ship of support for the Ukrainians and Europeans and instead immediately allowing Putin to dictate how things are going to go, and he wants to meet on Thursday in turkey just Ukraine and Russia. And then when Zelenskyy immediately is like great I’ll be there myself, Putin immediately pussy’s out. He’s so clearly just stalling for time so that Trump gets bored and just walks away. Putin is so clearly manipulating him and he’s truly to fucking stupid to see it.
Ukraine should send those people that do interviews with captured Russians as their ‘junior’ negotiating team, if Russia sends their junior team… using ‘junior’ generously in Russia’s case and unfairly in Ukraine’s case.
That unfortunate.
This is a complex situation and I’m just a dummy on the internet.
But i feel like if he goes, he would be signalling he’s the only one taking peace seriously. It would be difficult for Putin and Trump to claim Ukraine is not serious, when the only leader that showed up was Zelenski.
That said, there may be other considerations like safety. But thats my opinion.
