Questa vespa era vicino al mio giardino ed è il più grande insetto di questo tipo che ho visto. Era lungo circa 2 cm e potevo sentirlo masticare sul legno su cui atterrava.
Qualche idea su cosa sia?

They look scary, but are pretty chill, AND they keep the area free from wasps.

Wasp with Down syndrome?
I had hornets exactly twice at my parents’.
Both summers were wasp and mosquito free and nobody tried to steal our cake when we had coffee on the porch.
Total bliss.
It is a Hornet and it is collecting dead wood to make some nice paper for its hive.
They are super cool unless u annoy them and they eat wasps, mosquitos, and a lot more of the stuff u dont wanna hang around with.
Be lucky to see one, they are listed as an endangered species. Oh, killing them and getting caught can cost between 5k to 50k€.
