Cosa sta succedendo?

you didn’t stick it on the windshield properly if the x was visible

    2. They are saying you didn’t correctly remove the protection film. (they call it carrier foil)

[See this video. ](https://youtu.be/1wR69hoZsyY?si=uRWa4dbBSni3du9X)There is a huge X on it and you have to take the Vignette off the carrier foil. You see how it is supposed to be applied to your windshield. Did you do it like that?

Those guys are extremly strict. My dad once got fined in person when driving off the highway, he had his vignette with him but stupid him wanted to drive home first to cleanly remove the old one. He just bought it like 10 minutes before.

And yes, you can plead this case. Es written below under “Rechtsmittelbelehrung”. You got 2 weeks starting from when you get the letter

    3. the vignette is self adhesive to the windscreen. you didn’t remove the protecting layer completely (thus the X was visible). this is not allowed (as one might try this to use one vignette on multiple cars), therefor you get fined.

      sorry about that.

    4. displaying it is not enough. according to this text you did not stick it on to the windshield properly.

in austria you have to remove the cover and glue it to your windshield. that way you cannot remove it without breaking it so you cant resell it or transfer it to another car. i dont think you have a case for not paying it…

Looks like you didnt properly mount it, not removing the film on the vignette. See this article for a similar case: https://www.krone.at/3575569

You need to remove a foil so that the adhesive has direct contact to the windshield. This prevents the use of the same “Vignette” on different cars.

So they hold you accountable of tampering and driving without a valid “Vignette”, which results in the (ridiculous) amount of fine.

Be aware that you only have two weeks to file an objection. If you have insurance for example from your credit card, you may ask them to cover for a lawyer.

You don’t show what is else in the writing. If there is proof, like a picture, then pay and move on. Otherwise, if you sure you applied the “Vignette” correctly, file the objection. They must prove that you violated the regulations.

At the top on this page it says:

“The backing film on the sticker attached to the vehicle was not completely removed (the X was visible), which is why the attached sticker was not valid.”

so my best guess is you forgot to remove part of the foil on the front of the sticker, displayed here: [https://www.diesteirische.at/vignette-oesterreich-preis/](https://www.diesteirische.at/vignette-oesterreich-preis/)

and that’s why it wasn’t valid. You can always try and ague with them about this, I’m not sure if it will work

Austria needs the money right now, it’s not that easy you know. Crisis here, crisis there…

Sorry to say, you should have Read the instructions on the back of the sticker, its clearly described how to attach and where……in case u drive again through austria: buy a Digital Vignette, no need to stick this to the windscreen, cause digitally attached to your licence plate…

It literally says it in the first paragraph on top of the page… you didn’t apply the sticker correctly…

Sorry to see this, when I visisted Austria a year or so ago I got a similar fine because the machine at the border didnt have my country in it so i just put in “other” and then the license plate. That was a bad idea.

I naturally got a fine of 120 euro, except it never reached me but they still processed it and added some late payment fees so the letter i finally got 6+ months later was around 400 something euros. They did however not hesitate to call me out for being an idiot and obviously i should have applied for it online if my country was not there on the vignette machine.

I did however sent an email to them asking what the problem is, I luckily still had a photo of the reciept of the Vignette so using that they waived everything for me. I was positively suprised.

Most of my other experiences in Austria/Germany has been the complete opposite where it always is “the law is the law” and we dont care how impossible it is to find out, how illogical it is you should know that ofcourse you can not walk the streets when it is a fullmoon while the soccer finale is on etc etc. I understand the spirit of it and while i do agree to some extent it just feels silly when everyone involved know that everything was done right, no-one was hurt, everyone got paid but due to some bullshit technicallity a fee shall still be applied.

    16. TheGreatTimmyAT on

    18. TonaRamirez on

How the f did you even get that thing on without removing the film? Did you take some tape?! And then you wonder why they give you a penalty?
