I’m mildly autistic and I was once told by a psychologist that in this country, 80% of kids who are on the spectrum, regardless of level of disability, get abandoned in orphanages (definitely not good places to be, to put it mildly – especially back when I was born), and that I should count myself lucky I didn’t suffer the same fate. I saw another comment in this thread, stating there aren’t a lot of autistic people around here. It’s true… especially keeping in mind that statistic regarding the orphanages.
