i’ll never forget how when some news were posted about how Syrians in Germany celebrated the fall of Assad , the top comments were all laughing their suffering away
“why are they celebrating? what is to celebrate?”
you know people were celebrating the Red Army’s liberation of Auschwitz, because yes, Stalin was less worse for them than Hitler
as far back as 2019 ,there was research done on Syrian asylum seekers in Norway or Sweden, and the overwheling reason that people were leaving the country was to escape the forced conscription into Assad’s army
but it doesnt matter . Syrian asylum applications could go to zero tomorrow and those people will never care of them
Assad killing nearly 1 million people in the past 10 years also doesnt matter for them
Great, so now all the far right wing parties are just going to disappear right? Right? ….Hello?? /s

This can drop to all time low levels if Syria can become a united country under one umbrella.
Over 1 million people returned their homeland only in 2025. Despite their desires, many people can’t return to Syria because still 1/3 of the country is under the control of YPG/SDF.
As The United Nations, EU, Human Rights Watch warned before YPG/SDF compulsorily force all men and even underage children to join their militia group and fight for their organization. (Source ⬇️⬇️)
Understandably, people do not want to be part of this bloody war and risk their lives.
As we help to unite and stabilize this country, millions of people will return their homes.
Who could have thoguht that increasing political stability would reduce refuges
Almost as if theres a reason we do foreign aid (on top of using it to force countries to buy from our domestic industries)

Shocking surprise! People don’t actually like leaving friends, loved ones, and possessions behind to start a new life from nothing as a poor immigrant in some other country full of xenophobes. /s jokes aside, turns out things are better when we get rid of violence globally instead of exploiting it politically for the benefit of single countries. Individualism, as valued in the USA, is an absolute disaster for everyone, including those trying to profit from it.

Quick reminder that Russia religiously vetoed UNSC resolutions calling for Assad’s resignation, gave Assad military aid, directly deployed troops to assist Assad in the war employing a scorched earth policy in civilian areas and involved Russian air support bombing hospitals and medical facilities.
So, if you’re one of those people angry at the number of Syrian civilians who fled to your country, now you know exactly who to blame for that.

The war is over. Sanctions are getting lifted and violence is decreasing (yes i know it’s still not gone)
If anyone wants to defend the concept of refuge, they can’t let it become immigration with extra steps. General societal support of this concept depends on it. Large scale return of syrians must start soon

Dear Europeans,
It seems like you’re getting the message. If you let a country into civil wars, you will meet dozens of refugees. So, do every necessary thing for my country, Turkey. Stop supporting Erdoğan in anyway and support democracy in Turkey.
Best regards,
Turkish citizen who don’t want to go anywhere

So Germany has half of all Syrian refugee applications?
Appropriate_Pen4445 on
Oh… statistics. It can be interpreted in many ways. This one for example if we look at it logicaly one could say that after literaly years long exodus there are fewer and fewer people that can/want/are able to – leave.

Turns out Israel fighting Hezbollah was an all around good thing.

Yep seems like all the Al-Qaeda guys stopped fleeing to Europe and attacking there and decided to just head back to Syria, team up with Mossad and take out Assad together lol.

You mean to tell me people from a region wish to remain in their home when there is political stability? Wow and here I was told that they just wanted a free house in Western Europe 🙄

So they’re not refugees anymore, i hope they can and will return soon

It’s interesting that such a steep decline started in October of 24. I would have thought the war in Israel would have the opposite effect.
