Put them on top of everything else in your basket/bag of just carry them

Honest question: how else would you like to see them packaged? In plastic boxes like raspberries/blueberries?
I like these cardboard packs. Yes, you have to put them on top of your groceries to prevent the strawberries from getting squished, but it saves a whole lot of plastic. And then again, I don’t think those plastic containers can be put at the bottom of the bag either, they can’t withstand that much force…

They’re packaged like that so that people can steal some extra strawberries from other boxes before putting them into their shopping cart.

Have the impression that Belgians just generally dislike plastic packaging. Bread is packed in paper bags for the same reason. We tend to associate plastic with cheapness and low quality.

Do people not use their brain anymore? You put them on the bottom of your bag and the sack of potatoes on top of it, duh.

At delhaize I usually get them, scan them and put a paper bag over them. In the car we then put them on top of all groceries in our cooling bags.

They keep better if they can breathe and not get damaged by packaging. Put them on top.

LESS PLASTIC=BETTER STRAWBERRIES (also they can breathe and maybe it makes them last longer, and the aphids can fly away)

So the bottom ones can mold because strawberries aren’t supposed to be stacked

Why don’t you bring a small reusable produce bag and put your container in there?

Some stores sell larger quantities in those wooden boxes. This sort of packaging isn’t unique to Belgium. They sell them like that in other European countries. Most supermarkets in the US as well.
