The poor kid having to deal with this. The dad must be a piece of work wanting to take the kid to court the day before.

Things dont change. I remember my dad locked my mam out of their bedroom for drinking, but he was mentally and physically labusive to her. Viscous circle shite. She had to sleep in my bedroom for a a week or or so. And it led up to my communion.
She sobered up a few days before, Organised everything, He had no involvement until he decided to show up half way through the mass. Stopping by me and interupting the Bishop. Looking for where mam and rest of family were seated. Then all was lovely and back to normal for about a week. That was early 90s. Nothing changes.
