Good for him. F1 is hard to get into but since McLaren race in pretty much every top level series he has lots of possible routes if he keeps this up.

Sorry – all I see is a telly mounted above a stove. Would it get too hot when the stove is on?

Absolutely unreal. Alex is really flying this year and making some class moves.

His biggest hurdle will be the fact McLaren already has two top tier drivers so he’s never getting a chance in the main team. Hopefully McLaren can find him a drive for another team though. He definitely has the raw pace to make it in F1.

    5. Practically zero coverage in Irish media of Formula 1 and it’s feeder series despite it being hugely popular here. RTE gave up on it years ago. Off the Ball have a blind spot on this score. Today FM only cover sports that Matt Cooper has an interest in. Virgin/TV3 might cover it if they could get it cheap from ITV three years after it had been aired in the UK. So unless all the drivers start wearing GAA county colours or they start adding a few horses and jockeys to Grand Prix that won’t change. Of course, if Alex Dunne makes it to F1 the Irish media will suddenly want to be all over it. If it comes to pass he should tell them where to shove their microphones and dictaphones.

All I can see is the dangling cable, it’s long enough to be tied and hidden behind the screen

If he becomes really successful and popular watch RTÉ and the media jump on the band wagon. Nobodies saying how proud they are of him as if they’d have a hand and influence on his grind, dedication and sweat. He should ignore them when they come knocking
