Not a shocker as it has always been like this especially for the past 5 odd years
Used to be a meter fitter and 10 plus years ago, people were still struggling especially when they were forced on PAYG meters
Just corporate greed as always

Err… Can I interest you in a hit piece on cross dressers or a post about dangerous teenagers? Please no not look behind the curtain! Big businesses aren’t the problem! No one is getting massive bonuses year on year while your services get worse but the bills higher!

Wait until water bills double so we can help the shareholders out. The perfect storm is incoming.

Why is the article calling it a “global energy crisis”? Its a self-inflicted UK energy crisis.

It’s about this time of year that my energy company tries to turn my fixed DD into a variable and start me paying for winter’s energy early. So it’s to be expected if they breach the DD guarantee that people would default.
There have been a few posts recently about how Labour are rapidly losing support, and they’ve been filled with Labour supporters absolutely bewildered by why people don’t like the party (and often turning to insulting anyone who doesn’t).
Examples like this show exactly why Labour’s support is in the pits. People are really struggling. Bills are higher than ever, food prices at the shops are higher than ever, housing costs are higher than ever. And it really does not feel like Labour are actually doing anything about it. They’ve consistently coddled the same profiteering companies which have hiked up these prices rather than stand with the public. And pointing towards some abstract 0.x% growth in GDP, when that growth will almost certainly not trickle down to the actual public, does not counteract that.
It was a very similar situation in America in 2024. The Dems constantly banged on about abstract *economic growth*, even though every metric which looked at actual quality of life for working people demonstrated that people were still struggling.

We need more nuclear power. SMRs, natrium reactors, ERPs, whatever.

End this stupidity of making all our energy being paid at the price of gas. It’s utterly ridiculous that we do this and we’re the only country that does. Renewables are incredibly cheap to build and maintain. While inevitably we can’t only have solar and wind, so whatever proportion is made up of gas will drag the price up, it should realistically be half the price it is now.
