Is it because after 14 years in power they made the country a worse place to live through incompetence, corruption, and malice? Didn’t even make a success of the things they are meant to be good at.

Maybe don’t talk about bringing Boris back?
These people have gone totally mad – either is someone no one has heard of or their failed Prime Minister who resigned in disgrace.

The greatest issue for the tories was that their traditional base are dying off. The younger generation who haven’t really got much to conserve aren’t flipping to tory as they age. That’s a big problem in itself, but not the greatest.
It now seems that the same voices that projected the tory message in the media and online have flipped to Reform. They are now totally irrelevant – even the first comments about Starmer’s EU deal I heard were from reform, not the official opposition.
I’ve said it before, but if you want a low level conspiracy to invest in you could do worse than believe that whatever force pushed the tory message in the past used Boris to create a massive wave of immigration to allow them to pitch Reform as the answer to the problem they created for themselves.

At this point it seems inevitable.
It’s quite clear to most that our political system isn’t working any longer, but no one actually knows what to do to either fix it or replace it.
But it means that Reform may well win the next General Election without even getting the majority of votes, or being the most popular party.

The idea of “Bojo gearing up for another crack” should tell you everything you need to know about where UK politics is going, and it isn’t great. In a system where the most important votes and changes happen on a local level, this push for American style popularity contests isn’t going to help us.

Failure on immigration Failure on picking a leader Failure on the economy with Liz truss. Now, it’s a failure to re organise the party. But I wouldn’t say they are facing extinction. They do need to find a new leader to re organise the party.

Boris killed them. He successfully removed anyone who dared speak up again him or brexit. That lack of checks and balances led to a party that became an echo chamber. It worked for a while but ultimately no one could replace him.

I’m not sure what the Tories have to offer in the political market place with Reform and the LibDems pulling at their extremes. They have no big personalities, no big ideas, just 14 years of failure as a track record. They’re already irrelevant.
It’s funny because 2019 really was their sliding doors moment. The could have been the party of middle England and the working classes but they fucked it so hard no one will ever vote for them ever again.

I laugh when the Tories try to sell themselves as a patriotic party. If patriotism is the love of a country and its people, then the Tory governments of 2010 to 2024 were the least patriotic governments in history, given the damage they did to the UK, her people and her international standing.

Still waiting for Labour to introduce the new voting system, get us out of what is essentially a two party choice for leader. Though looking at the voting stats from last year, zero chance of that happening any time soon…

Unfortunately the super rich that own the Tories still need to continue to push the race card or someone might ask them to pay tax. Murdoch and Rothermere are still operating in the UK and controlling the narrative.
If they can manage it at all, they will continue pushing Right Wing politics. Ever more and more extreme. The death of the Tories will mean they will back even worse next time. Its is without question at this point that the UK public will do what Murdoch tells them.

Their problem is that by constantly harking back to a fantasy past that didn’t exist, their voters are now voting for a fantasy version of the Conservative Party they remember from the glory days.

I genuinely think Labour are the only thing that can save the Tories now. If Labour do a shit job over the next 4 years the only place voters in England have left to go is reform, and reform will surge and threaten to win the next election. If Labour do a good job, they’ll comfortably win re-election, reform will lose momentum, and that will give the Tories time and a chance to recover.

I expected to be happy if this came to pass, maybe we would have Labour Vs something even more progressive… But no, it is Labour Vs the UK version of MAGA fascists… And turns out people in the UK are just as gullible as Americans and will vote MAGA fascist even after observing the incompetent mess that is about to plunge America into a disaster. Sigh.

Ironically they wouldn’t be in such a bad place if they had kept the moderate elements of their party. Trying to retain the pro hardline immigration supporters has only emboldened Reform and contributed to their lessening popularity, and more moderate voters have been alienated.
