If you’re a politician, you’re ALWAYS speaking as a politician when you’re on the radio – that’s exactly WHY you’re on the radio in the first place.
It’s one of those jobs where your public image is on 24/7 (or at least when you’re out in public).

That is some impressive hair-splitting. I’d be *fascinated* to hear the learned Mr Leahy’s reasoning.
