My brother lives in a village in Spain and he says he thinks this is great, the issue with Airbnbs is terrible there. They’re removing and driving up the cost of the little housing that exists. People without homes and empty apartments for vacation rentals

We did it patrick, we solved the housing crisis

e: before you mindlessly click the button; think for a second, what can solve the lack of housing, and then think about whether reducing supply will help literally anyone

    3. What is even the point of Airbnb? ( I never used it) because it was way more expensive than a hotel stay.

I lost a lease on a great flat once so a landlord could make 10 times what I was paying per month on my flat through AirBnB, and I don’t wish that experience on anyone. Ban them.

Super based Spain: from their workers rights, to the stance against Israel, to this!!

      Good,

The amount of homes swallowed by multi national investment firms is unreal in these places now. And these companies, do not sell their assets unless they are losing money, which is very difficult to achieve in property.

Taxing the shit out of them would just bloat prices, preventing them from existing is probably the only real solution.

This is good – hope this happens in my country aswell. It’s stupid to rent a flat in complex of appartaments where families with kids live and have some random people coming in and out of the flat complex every day.
If these so called “entrepreneurs” rent in a “hotel” styles these flats – just go invest those money into a real hotel and offer real conditions. I’ve used Airbnb in big cities a few times, but i was just thinking how stupid they are – airbnb is good when renting a whole place like a house, or other buildings, but to just rent a flat inside a building is stupid – there are people that live there everyday and it’s not nice for them to see different people every day coming in and out of the same building.

So are they planning to build more housing as well?

    9. It’s all silly populism. Spain was bordering on third world before mass tourism and EU money.

And it’s ridiculous anyway. As if a low skilled loser would be able to live in one of the houses that’s used for tourism purposes. Ain’t no free housing, go live under a bridge.

Just ban homes being able to be used for holiday rentals. Cornwall has been destroyed because of it.

Won’t solve the issue. But at least it will get populist votes.
