im all for changing that, bees are the best small bois, followed by jumping spiders and colorful and oddly shaped scarabs.

i mean in italy almost everywhere you go you can find local honeys, thinking about it i dont see a lot of non italian honey, let alone chinese one. these numbers include also restaurants who buy in bulk for sure

Ukraine – explainable – it’s near, but why China?

I never understand why “A Blend of EU and Non-EU Honey” is allowed as a label. It has to be the most meaningless nonsense I’ve ever seen on food packaging.

Why would anyone import honey from outside Europe?

    5. Some individual countries seem to be skewing the numbers. We in Germany are responsible for about 72.600 t of all imported honey in 2024 but according to data, only 2.600 t originated from China.

How much of that honey is real honey though?
Tons of exported honey from China is adulterated with sugar syrups like rice, corn, or beet syrup to increase volume and reduce cost.

A Joint EU investigation called “From the Hives” found that nearly 50% of tested imported honey was likely adulterated, mostly from China and surrounding regions.

Buy local or certified organic honey when possible.

    7. Honey is one of the few products I buy local and only local with controlled origin from local bee keepers. I’d do that even if the price were 10 fold…

I’m glad I’ve seen this. I hate the fact that stores hide behind the label “from EU and nonEU honey”. Aldi doesn’t even say on their own brand”. So I either buy local or buy their Spanish honey.

Don’t buy food stuffs or medications from China.

    9. Most of it isn’t pure honey. Mainly Chinese imoorts are cut.

My immediate issue with the usefulness of this is the lack of ‘overall’ numbers here. Nothing is set into relation by only showing imports. Overall consumption or EU exports in comparison would make this useful.

On the other hand: I always thought China had a distinct lack of bees for years already. How can they export so much?

I only buy local Breton honey. Nothing tastes better.

Ukraine honey 🍯 is also European honey 😋 So the more important it is to defend it 🤘🏽 #letsmakethehoneydeal

Can’t believe we are importing cheap crappy Chinese honey.

Honey? More like chemically produced sugar bombs. I suggest everyone to buy honey from their local producers.

    15. I am surprised Xi is willing to part away with so much honey…

I feel blessed that I can get free honey because my grandmother network of old people includes beekeepers. Honey from supermarkets just doesn’t compare.

I buy my honey locally from the farmer. I love the granulous honey.

I wonder what % of Chinese honey is really a honey.
I would not buy that shit
