Honestly, it’s hard not to feel deeply disappointed with the President’s actions. What he did feels like a betrayal—not just politically, but morally. Simple truth is Russia has no need for a ceasefire as they are on the advantage on the ground and the us and Europe have little leverage left except for direct intervention to force them on the negotiating table .
So yes Russia wants to negotiate but only if it means achieving their goals without further fighting.
The only thing the us and Europe can do is to make it more costly for Russia to continue this war but nothing really to revers the current trajectory . This in itself is a card to play but not sure if Trump or his administration has the capacity of so much long term thought and planning. All seems very ad hoc and chaotic
