Sounds like the doubts were well founded, or why do it?

Edit: sorry that, as usual, people don’t want to hear reality!

To be clear, he had lied about having a postgraduate degree.

The guy could have just quit. That’s what I would have done. In a few months no one would care.

Call me stupid but why do you need an MBA to be chief of the fire brigade?

    5. andrew0256 on

If the job requires you to have an MBA then the very minimum HR should do after shortlisting is to check out if that is true, no matter who you are. This guy lied about it and his application should have gone no further.

No one should find themselves feeling suicidal but he obviously set himself some high achievement targets and had met them, albeit by lying. We can only assume he felt the guilt constantly which a malign person was using against him. Why is that not a punishable offence even is the victim is deceased?

Then there is another question. This guy had 20 years service and must have been good at the job? Is a MBA really necessary to do the job if you have professional knowledge of the service and solid experience?

More than one thing can be true at the same time. Nobody should be fired because of this and they’ve got to correct whatever it was that made them investigate for 18 months. That’s absolutely nuts, what a way to milk taxpayer money. It shouldn’t be that difficult to make a decision. If it is then change the rules to speed up that process

Ok so he lied and couldnt handle the criticism?, its a shame he decided to take his own life but have some fucking accountability

He exaggerated on a CV that’s a bad form for a senior job. But it’s more astounding that it was never checked.

    9. The harassment charges being mentioned a lot in the comments were also dropped…. Most likely because they were accurately highlighting the lies being told….

I dont think that’s the calibre of person you want as a fire chief tbh.

Whilst tragic, those are hardly the actions of a stable and responsible individual.

Why would you end your life if you know you’re right? Or due to the shame and how deep of a hole you’ve dug, you feel you have no choice? Sad state of affairs.

Remember, you can embellish your CV, but don’t categorically lie.

Whatever is currently covered in the press does not even BEGIN to scratch the surface of this whole saga.

It’s a huge ongoing cover-up, and I have receipts to prove it.

Also suggest Michael Gillard’s The Upsetter Substack site as well, where he’s also done excellent coverage (though behind a paywall).

WMFS doesn’t have a lot of luck with fire chiefs. The one before was a nonce.
