So instead of one that takes years, does nothing and then gets quietly swept under the carpet, we’re paying for 12? Certainly sounds like water company economics.

C’mon Labour, do it
Remember that the large-scale sewage dumping started in the pandemic. Water companies got an exemption from properly treating waste water in operational emergencies – in case supplies of chemicals to treat water were interrupted by the pandemic.
They misused this exemption to dump massive amounts of raw sewage into waterways, because it’s cheaper, and have continued to do so since.
Yeah, but Angela Raynor sent an email (sorry secret memo!) about potential tax changes! How very dare she!
Don’t worry though, they’re all mates so no one will actually get in trouble, just a bit of a pantomime for the peasants.
