Ich reiste vor 5 jahren von kanada bis chile. Die unsicherste empfundene Situation war in den USA. Alleine weil man nie weiss, was für Waffen jemand rumträgt.

Meanwhile, by travelling to the US you can get killed in a mass shooting or detained at the border and deported to El Salvador if you look a bit off. Travel warning when?

So: cultural difference and/or lack of common sense motivate the warning
