Why does it matter if you’re an EU tourist or just a normal tourist lol? You know, Bulgaria is also in the EU

Well, a lot of them come from Troyan. So best bet would be to go there if you want them cheaper, probably. Obviously that is not possible so suck it up. Maybe only buy pottery from a place that has displayed prices on the items. To me they’re always too expensive but they’re also hand made so really there is no reason to complain about the price.

Order online. You won’t find normal prices in that city.

You’ll get cheated, regardless if you’re in the EU or not

I don’t have personal experience (or affiliation) with any of the web sites bellow:
You can rarely see Bulgarian pottery in Bulgarian stores. Unless some tourist places and in restaurants. It’s not something people usually buy. Most of our pottery in the house are generational – parents, grandparents.
You can search for “Глинени съдове/Гювечета” and look for more results.

Disregard the previous comments. Veliko Tarnovo has a little artisanal shop where they craft ceramics with a 500 year tradition. They make the pottery and engraving on spot and the shop owner will tell you the story about her family’s legacy in making these for the Bulgarian royal families. The place is located on “Samovodska charshiya market”, which is in the beautiful old town of Tarnovo. Link to the shop in Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/PHS5oB8SPFoZFJfS8
Everything else is not made of the same quality and craftsmanship as it is intended for mass sale.
P.S. I am not affiliated with the shop owner. I collect handmade ceramics from everywhere I go where there is a tradition in this craft. I was very surprised to find this shop after I have watched it on TV. My recommendation is to go there, even if you don’t like any of the amazing designs – which they have a significance btw. You will most probably be charmed by the beautiful town.

Some of these might work only on bulk with restaurants (idk).
There is a pottery history and school in Troyan and I believe this style of pottery is called Troyan ceramics.
