Il governo bielorusso ha lanciato una campagna volta a scoraggiare i cittadini dall’emigrazione in Polonia interpretando la Polonia come costosa e non sicura, presentando la Bielorussia come un’alternativa sicura e prospera.

    1. Looks like these banners placed in front of Belorusian-Poland border cross.

There is a reason: there are a lot of Belorusian work migrants to Poland, and lot of them wish for permanent stay.

**”A country where life is expensive and dangerous”** – a new series of propaganda posters comparing life in Poland and Belarus has appeared at the Polish-Belarusian border.

The posters are styled as conversations in Messenger. One part of the “messages” appears under the title *Welcome to Poland*, while the other is labeled *Welcome to Belarus*. The “sender” of the messages about Poland is allegedly the European Union.

The message about Poland aims to discourage Belarusians from visiting the country. Poland is described as “a country where life is expensive and dangerous,” “where not the standard of living, but inflation, prices, and taxes are rising.” The posters also emphasize the alleged militarization of the country: “Militarization is increasing, social support for people is decreasing,” and “Here, history is being rewritten and Nazism is being rehabilitated.”

Belarus, on the other hand, is portrayed as a thriving and developing country. The captions on the posters proclaim: *”This is a true Mecca for tourists,”* *”Here, there is real support for business,”* *”Here, no expense is spared on medical services,”* and *”All products bear a mark of quality.”*

That’s what happens when you run a country in a way that keeps its citizens poor, other countries become expensive.

Imagine your country being so bad you have to run state-funded propaganda to convince people it’s not. If Belarus was really that secure and prosperous, they wouldn’t need a slideshow dissing pierogis and Polish rent.

      Carbon copy of soviet propaganda.

“The west wants to destroy us because they envy us!”

    6. It’s almost sweet in its silliness. Makes you forget there is a bandit behind these efforts.

      “Every accusation is an admission.”

Why does that sound so true for this? 😀

    8. Why would European Union write this message? And who downvoted their message?

      Romanian living in Poland here.

Absolute nonsense. It’s not perfect and it’s not a Scandinavian state, but it’s still great.

It’s working like a charm. r/Poland is flooded with “is it safe?” questions.

    11. Data from Belarus is lacking, but generally newest [UN data available ](https://dataunodc.un.org/dp-intentional-homicide-victims)(2019) have Belarus with homicide rate of 2.4 with Poland back then at 0.7 (per 100K), 2023 0.8 (2024 probably lower).

Cost of life: Poland as richer country and has higher prices of some things, but formally Poland is actually cheaper: [PPP conversion for Poland is actually higher ](https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/PA.NUS.PPP?locations=BY-PL)showing that Poland has lower price level than Belarus despite being richer.

      Sooo… citation needed?

    12. I know a ton of Belarusians living in Poland, and they seem to disagree. In fact, they think going back to Belarus would be unsafe to them, go figure.

    13. It’s even in a social media format. The dislike icon, the “new messages”. Unbelievable where we’ve ended up as a society. Of course a quick jab at the evil EU as well.

Why is “emigrating” being used here instead of “immigrating”?

Belarusians are free to go to Poland? Didn’t expect that

Belarus still exists? Always thought terrorist Russia has already taken it. Nato should invade Belarus to bring it back to Europe.

One of my mom’s friends been to Belarus around 2008 crisis and she recalled that elderly people over there believed that there’s a nationwide famine in Poland. Those propagandists have always tried to make people such lunatics.
