Seems crazy that we throw vast amounts of money at these ‘charities’ that are effectively fully part of our public health system, yet we get treated like some kind of a minor annoyance when it comes to transparency.

OK, so taking over a leadership role and being asked to answer questions and justify decisions you weren’t party to is difficult.

However, CHI has a ten-person board who are responsible for the organisation’s finances and leadership, among other things, who ought to be able to justify their decisions.

HR settlements almost always come with confidentiality agreements, but the board is being cute sending the new CEO in with not much else to go on. Politicians will scratch at the scab now.

As to why she got any sort of agreement at the end of a fixed term contract, I think you can’t really comment with authority in the absense of details – maybe she was told she’d be extended for another term, but the Department changed their mind and did a rug pull on her, would be my best guess (but only a guess.)
